All round chess

Bij all round chess bepaalt het lot de eerste 2 tot pakweg 12 zetten van de partij. Hieronder ziet u een lijst van 216 openingen en varianten, alle gangbaar in de (grootmeester-) praktijk, waarbij de dobbelsteen bepaalt welke variant er gespeeld wordt: de cijfercodes die voor iedere variant vermeld staan, zijn de uitslagen van 3 dobbelsteenworpen.

Het idee achter all round chess is hetzelfde als dat achter Fischer Random: (diepe) openingsvoorbereiding is zinloos. Het lot bepaalt welke opening er wordt gespeeld en de spelers zijn aangewezen op andere zaken dan specifieke openingskennis. Bij Fischer Random ontstaan vooral aan het begin echter tamelijk onnatuurlijke stellingen en dit nadeel (als je het een nadeel vindt) bestaat niet bij all round chess. Alle stellingen in all round chess zijn immers afkomstig uit de praktijk en het is leuk om een keer in een totaal andere opening terecht te komen dan je gewend bent zonder bang te hoeven zijn reeds in de opening overspeeld te worden door de tegenstander puur omdat hij of zij die opening wél kent. Goed: je kunt de pech hebben een opening te loten waarin jij niet thuis bent en de tegenstander wél, maar die kans is niet groot (daarvoor is de database simpelweg te groot) en bovendien: het omgekeerde kan ook gebeuren.

Mocht er met een tijdslimiet worden gespeeld waarbij wordt genoteerd, dan loopt de klok terwijl de spelers de opgegeven zetten uitvoeren en noteren.

Hier de (voorlopige) lijst. Tamelijk lang geleden heb ik gewerkt aan een langere lijst en dat is nooit afgekomen; het zou compleet moeten zijn als de lijst 6x zo groot is (dat zijn dus niet 3, maar 4 dobbelsteenworpen en daarmee wordt de lijst niet 216, maar 1296 varianten lang). Maar goed: om te beginnen lijkt een lijst met 216 varianten ruim voldoende.
